
Marimuthu along with his childhood friends Ayyappan (Vairavan), Sekar (Nithish), Murthy (Sundar), Appu Kutty (Appu Kutty), suri (parota suri) and Pandi (Pandi) are kabbadi players who dream of winning a local tournament. The story unfolds in a remote village near Palani called Kanakkanpatti with a poor goat-herd, Marimuthu as its protagonist who lost education as his father died his age of 13, he also plays kabhadi very well. Dalamarmarangal establishes that love is the one and only antidote to violence. Lack of love and affection leads one to violence and to destruction as well. The experiences they go through prove that lack of love and affection is the prime reason that made the hell out of their lives. Their crisis gets deepened and dangerous due to the attitudes of their parents.
